Frequently Asked Questions

  • Not at all. Most activities are beginner friendly and designed for women of mixed experience levels. The surf lessons are specifically tailored for beginners or the “I haven’t done this in 20 years” category.

  • You are not alone on this point. Here is some information on the Learn to Surf session on the Nusa Lembongan retreat

We are booked with We Surf Lembongan for a private group beginners lesson, and they are very used to working with first-timers, nervous beginners and people who have not been on a board since the invention of the fax machine.

The lesson is around 3 hours in total, but that is not 3 hours of being dumped by waves. It includes land-based theory, practical instruction, getting sorted with gear, the boat transfer to the waves and then about 2 hours in the water. The boat transfer is not because we are surfing in deep water or a far-away location – it it to save us from paddling out to the break.

They provide everything: rashies, leggings, booties, boards, instructors and the boat to the waves.

This is not about becoming a pro surfer. It is about having a go, laughing at ourselves, learning something new and maybe surprising the hell out of ourselves.

And also, important note: participation is still your choice. If your body says no on the day, or the ocean conditions do not feel right for you, there is no pressure.

Saltwater confidence is built by listening to yourself, not by forcing it.

So yes, it might be awkward. Yes, you may fall off. Yes, your dignity may briefly float away on the tide.

But you will be supported, equipped, guided and surrounded by women doing the exact same brave ridiculous thing.

That is kind of the point.🧜‍♀️

  • You don’t need to be super fit or sporty. Activities are designed to be accessible, flexible and enjoyable, with plenty of downtime built in. You’re always encouraged to listen to your body and participate at your own pace.

  • Many women travel by themselves. Some come with friends, others arrive knowing nobody. The retreats are intentionally small and naturally social, without feeling forced or overwhelming.

  • Definitely not. There’s no pressure to meditate perfectly, give up coffee, abstain from alcohol or become a different person by the end of the week.

Think ocean swims, beautiful experiences, good food, movement, laughter, rest and space to slow down properly.

  • Each retreat varies slightly, but we try to cover as much as possible. inclusions generally cover accommodation, airport transfers, island boat transfers, selected meals, ocean-based experiences, workshops, yoga and movement sessions, floating meditation, sound healing, snorkelling tours, transportation on the island and a range of curated wellness experiences.

Detailed inclusions are listed on each retreat page.

  • Your retreat package includes a generous range of meals, experiences and activities throughout your stay. Think tropical breakfasts, some lunches, and welcome/farewell group dinners showcasing the local cuisine.

Specific inclusions are outlined on each retreat page so you know exactly what’s covered before booking.

  • Yes — because this wouldn’t be much of a water wellness retreat without them.

Most retreats include at least one massage or spa experience, with additional treatments available if you feel like leaning fully into pamper mode.

  • There are no surprise “retreat upsells” here.

The major retreat experiences and inclusions are built into the package price so you can relax and enjoy the experience without constantly reaching for your wallet.

Some optional upgrades or free-time activities may be available, but the core retreat experience is intentionally comprehensive. We will give you as much information prior to arrival about optional activities. and help you book these if needed.

  • Beautiful tropical accommodation designed to help you immediately shift into island mode. Think pool, breezy open spaces, warm ocean air and relaxed coastal boho luxury rather than overly formal resorts.

We offer a combination of solo, twin/double rooms and sometimes utilise accommodation in neighbouring properties, depending on the retreat and the number of guests.

  • We aim to offer a variety of experiences during the retreat and give you an indicative itinerary prior to departure. That way you can let us know if there is an activity you’d prefer to sit-out of or change to suit your requirements. Once you arrive at the retreat, you will be given a daily schedule, but there’s plenty of space built in to rest, wander, read, nap, swim or simply do nothing for a while. While the retreats include a range of experiences and activities, they’re intentionally designed to feel spacious rather than rushed, or worse still forced.

  • Like a holiday, you’ll still have gorgeous accommodation, tropical water, great food and plenty of moments to relax.

But our retreats are intentionally designed around experiences that help women reconnect with themselves through water, movement, rest, adventure and shared experience.

Our holiday activities will have elements of intention and personal development.

It is the difference between simply going somewhere beautiful and actually feeling different while you’re there.

  • These retreats are designed as immersive, small-group experiences rather than large-scale wellness tourism.

Accommodation, curated water experiences, workshops, island activities, wellness sessions, selected meals, logistics and thoughtful touches are intentionally bundled together to create a seamless experience that feels restorative, adventurous and genuinely memorable.

For many women, it becomes the first time in a very long time that they’ve properly prioritised themselves. You are worth every cent (and then some).

  • Because water changes how women feel.

There’s something about saltwater, floating, movement and being near the ocean that naturally softens stress and quiets the noise of everyday life. These retreats are designed to help women reconnect through water, movement, adventure and deep rest. Think of it as a big salty hug for your soul.

    You’ll know once you know.
